We’re seeking responsible pet lovers in our service areas, including Sayville, West Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point, Patchogue, East Patchogue, Great River, Oakdale, Bohemia, Islip Terrace, East Islip, Central Islip, Islandia, Hauppauge, Nesconset, Smithtown, St. James, Ronkonkoma, Lake Ronkonkoma, Holbrook, Holtsville, Farmingville, Medford, Lake Grove, Centereach, Selden, Terryville, Setauket, Stony Brook, Port Jefferson Station, Port Jefferson, and Mount Sinai, NY.

The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn about and connect with companion animals, a strong understanding of customer service, and the physical ability to handle pets of varying species, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels.

As a dog walker or pet sitter, you will support families in Central Suffolk on Long Island while they are at work, school, or traveling. You’ll brighten pets’ days with dog walks, fresh meals, playtime, clean litter boxes, and more, ensuring both the pets’ comfort and their families’ peace of mind.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide physical and mental exercise to dogs, cats, and other companion animals through walks, indoor and outdoor play, and enrichment activities.
  • Handle multiple pets (from the same household) at one time.
  • Prioritize pet safety and home security by following Dog Days’ protocols and best practices.
  • Carefully read and follow pet parent care instructions and preferences.
  • Clean up after dogs on walks, scoop litter boxes, and maintain feeding and litter areas.
  • Communicate professionally and reliably with clients via our smartphone app.
  • Take and share photos with clients via our smartphone app.
  • Be punctual and dependable to ensure client satisfaction and pet well-being.
  • Be flexible, accommodating, and trustworthy.
  • Ensure a positive, friendly experience for pets and their parents.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Possess knowledge and experience caring for pets (personally or professionally)
  • Have the ability to handle pets of varying species, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
  • Have a full range of motion and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs alone.
  • Applicants must own a reliable vehicle and be comfortable using it throughout the workday.
  • Comfortably drive and walk in varying weather conditions
  • Possess strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Take pet safety and home security measures to prevent accidents and ensure client satisfaction
  • Bring in mail, newspapers, and packages.
